001/ AI automation

AI that answers the phone when nobody can.

AT Growth Co. built custom on-site chat assistants for two very different businesses: a roofing and remodeling company losing enquiries after hours, and a specialty footwear retailer answering the same customer questions over and over. Same technology, two completely different jobs, because the point was never the AI. It was the missed revenue.

Overview

Most small businesses do not need an AI strategy. They need one specific gap closed. In both of these engagements AT Growth Co. started from a concrete leak in the business, then built the narrowest assistant that could plug it, trained on that company's real services, products, and language rather than generic web content.

02

The client challenge

The two businesses were losing different things. Rob's Roofing was getting traffic outside business hours from homeowners with urgent problems, and those visitors had nothing to do but leave. Mephisto Scottsdale was fielding a steady stream of repeat questions about fit, sizing, availability, and store details, which consumed staff time and still left visitors waiting on a reply while their intent cooled.

Rob's Roofing: enquiries arriving after closing time

Roofing problems do not respect office hours. Evening and weekend visitors needed answers about services and process, and a way to hand over their details so the team could follow up first thing.

Mephisto Scottsdale: the same questions, all day

Specialty footwear buyers ask detailed questions before purchasing. Those answers existed, but they were locked in staff heads and scattered across the site, and there was no mechanism turning those conversations into email subscribers.

03

Strategy

One assistant per business, each with a single primary job and a clearly defined scope. Both were built on the company's own information so answers stay accurate, and both were designed to hand off to a human rather than pretend to be one.

  • Define one primary outcome per assistant before building anything
  • Train on the client's real services, products, and policies
  • Keep scope tight so the assistant does not guess
  • Design a clean handoff to the team for anything it should not answer
  • Capture contact details as a natural part of the conversation
04

What we built and implemented

Two custom website assistants, each shaped around its own business goal and embedded directly into the site experience.

Rob's Roofing: after-hours lead capture and roofing Q&A

An assistant that answers common roofing and remodeling questions in plain language, walks visitors through what to expect, and collects name, contact details, and the nature of the problem so the team has a qualified lead waiting when they open. Instead of an empty inbox after 6pm, the business wakes up to conversations.

Mephisto Scottsdale: instant answers and email list growth

An assistant trained on products, fit and sizing guidance, and store information, so shoppers get an immediate answer at the moment they are deciding. The conversation also invites visitors onto the email list, turning a support interaction into an owned marketing channel.

05

Business impact

Both businesses now have a layer of coverage that did not exist before. Visitors who arrive outside business hours get a response instead of a dead end, and their details reach the team in a usable form. Repeat customer questions are answered instantly rather than queued behind a human, and the retail assistant converts some of those conversations into email subscribers the brand can market to later. The assistants also make the gap visible: the business can finally see what people ask before they buy.

06

Practical AI, not AI theater

Neither of these projects started with a desire to use AI. They started with lost leads and repeated questions. That is the standard AT Growth Co. applies to every automation build: it earns its place by closing a measurable gap, it stays inside a scope it can handle accurately, and it hands off to a person the moment it should.
